hmm.. im at home today.. yup.. and this is the 2nd post for today coz that day forgot to post the previous post. how clever i am rite..
got an MC.. so im officially resting at home. haha.. but i wanna complain!!!! yes again! listen! those staying jurong area.. never go to jurong west healthway clinic. the one just opposite Jurong Point! it sux!!! i reached there at 10.30am. registered and the nurse told me i have to wait about an hour. ok.. since i was giddy, i sat down and rested my eyes.. and i remembered the no. called at 15 when i first reached. so i waited and 1 hour passed.. and the queue no. was only at 26. so i thot.. since im no.36.. i'll have to wait another hour? wat nonsense is that. but hell, i've already waited so long.. i have no choice but to wait.. anyway i was hungry.. so i went to jp for lunch. grabbed some bread.. then went back.. okay.. this time was better.. at about 12.15pm, it was no. 31.. so yeah.. my turn is coming. abt 12.30 i went in to see the doc.. 12.40 i came out.. so naturally we have to wait awhile for medicines rite.. yup.. i waited waited and waited.. even those who went in after me got their medications, where's mine?! freak.. i was so pissed.. its almost 1pm and im still waiting for my medicines. i went up to the lady and asked, "excuse me, may i ask if my medicines are ready for collection? im no. 36" then i looked at the queue counter on the wall which was already showing 45. i got more furious. as you know, i have the looks that kill(not the pretty type but the fierce type) the clinic assistant instantly got worried and kept apologizing while she search for my card. good one.. guess where she found my card? in the drawer where they keep all the other cards! HELLO! i havent even collected my medicines and you've already kept it nicely back into the drawers? wat nonsense rite! i was extremely pissed! you wasted so much of my time! though i dun earn 100bucks an hour, but i need to rest! I AM SICK! anyway i left the clinic at 1.14pm. so gonna lodge a complain!!!!!! muahahahaha |

i had a busy busy week!
hmm.. 2 days of seminars.. first day was a whole day seminar thingy. presented by all the department heads and 2nd day was a seminar given by this Nobel Prize winner Paul Nurse and the the announcement of the winner of the best poster done by all the post docs. guess what's the prize??? LAPTOP.. irritating rite.. such a good prize... anyway no point being envious about it. what else.. i pulled my hamstring last friday rite.. so i thot maybe i will be better on mon to train for netball.. but i was hell wrong.. i had difficulty running one whole round and i was practically dragging myself to finish the last 100m! so i slacked around on monday... lalala.. thursday's 'selection' was worse.. initially the ex-ivp players didnt have to play coz there were too many midfielders. so i was there resting and stretching both my legs.. chatted and played abit of javelin.. i felt that my hamstring was ok.. then who knows.. the moment i went on court to play the last game, i pulled it again.. this time it felt much worse.. quickly sat down to stretch. arg.. lousy hamstring! that night.. i walked with a limp.. felt weird.. -_-" anyway fri... we were all rushing to complete stuffs here n there coz mentor and another ARO (assistant research officer) are going for holidays soon. and hmm... guessed i was over exhausted with the work load and trainings. im SICK.. yup.. down with serious coughing, blocked nose and giddiness.. the Common Cold........ |

2 good news!
make a guess?? haha... 1st......... SHE'S LEAVING TOMORROW!!! which means i dont have to face her anymore!!! okok.. that was mean. wat i was trying to convey was that tomorrow will be her last day la... 2nd......... i dont have to do experiments with her anymore!! YEAH!! she's been doing southern blotting all this week. me on the other hand did probes and colony pcr and lots of other stuffs till im a little giddy now.. not literally giddy but mentally tired. plus i have trainings four times a week. yup, one word. BUSY. will be going for netball training later. training is getting tougher, BUT i like.. haha. coz i can slim down!! yup.. work is getting tougher. multi-tasking isnt easy and its really tiring. so much so that i sleep before 11 almost everyday now. wat a good girl rite. (-_-") haha.. shant say anymore.. will blog again when i have time. oh.. do you know. i ran like 4 or 5 gels today. so many different samples to check that i was a little confused on what i was actually doing. then 5mins ago, my mentor asked me for the GUS probe that i checked yesterday. it took me quite awhile to recall what is GUS probe and where i left it. gosh. this is how slow my brain is working. probably there's to much info to be stored. hahaha... time for training!! till i blog again...cya! |

hello! im back!
i had a busy weekend. went out with the girls on friday after work. the usual crazy group of 4 who love screaming in the theatre. or was it only me n limin? haha.. watched bimbotic show Mean Girls. but it was really nice.. and the guy is SO cute! Jonathan Bennett!!! yup.. and we ate alot. within 6 hours, we ate three times. dinner at ajisen before the show. desserts at meridien after the show and supper at jalan besar. and of course we chatted alot. the saying was " three girls one market" rite.. we have 4.. so alvin said " four girls a convention hall". he's a meannie rite!!!! =P haha.. one word. friday was GREAT. thou by 2am we were ALL dead tired. hee.. saturday.. let me see.. was kok hwa's 21st birthday chalet.. went there and got myself updated with all the news that i had missed out. gossiped and joked alot with uncle andy. poor kok hwa was sabotaged by andy and he had to do 21 x n (no. of times) of push ups. yup.. he has lotsa friends. that's the only thing i can conclude from the chalet. haha.. sunday.. tanning.. (-_-") initially i thot i was really darker coz i applied DARK TANNING OIL instead of the protective tanning that i always used. but after bathing.. it seemed as though the colour faded????? arg.. nonetheless, i know im a tiny bit darker.. hahha. -wink- hmm.. somehow i really dun like the airport. went to meet the girls in the evening to get some stuffs for jasmine.. then went to the airport to send her off.. she left for australia for 1.5 years yesterday.. its like.. 2 small size girls have to check in their 30kg luaggage themselves. helping each other to carry the heavy luaggages up to the belt. i dunno.. the feeling just aint good. then she came over.. hugged us.. chatted.. then hugged again.. then chatted.. when she finally needed to go in.. tears just dropped............ till the next time we meet.... bye big jas...... then was the LONG LONG journey back to BOON freaking LAY from CHANGI AIRPORT. end of my weekend. one word. TIRING p/s: *thanx sweetie* |

just came back from a seminar...
-blur- my mentor gave a speech about her interesting discovery. but hmm.. i dun understand them.. hahaha... but im part of it.. yeah.. i helped her did PCR on that before! sadly.. not that NUS girl.... muahahah guess the reason? rite.. her practical skills suX!!! im a meannie.... just something that i found out today... she loves to eavesdrop!! and i mean REALLY IN LOVE with it.. coz rite now.. she's beside me reading some article on the net.. then suddenly.. she just open an new IE page and went to google.com to type in "deletion of homozygous". what a loser. even her search is wrong! probably she thot that it will be of some use to know more about what they are discussing. but this is something new that they just found out.. haiyo.. our mentor already said that she cant find this in the literature, so how can you find it?? sometimes i really dunno what to say about you.... oh oh!! this afternoon lunch was best. it was raining outside.. so i asked her to bring umbrella. naturally if she asked me to go get the umbrella, i will get enough to shelter 3 of us. but nope. she took only one small umbrella for herself. HOW SELFISH CAN A PERSON GET?! TOTALLY CANNOT STAND! |

went for a 40mins tanning which serves no use at all. im still FAIR!! sheesh... im prepared to go tanning every weekend now.. that is if i can get up. haha.. very sinful lunch at fish & co. haha, and i got to know another girl named LYNN.. why is there so many Lynns around suddenly? anyway she's one year my senior and it was really great chatting with her (about BIOTECH stuffs of course). haha. the rest simply ignored the two of us and chatted about other stuffs while we yak yak all the way only about lifescience and her OIAP experience at the USA. i was too tired and vent my fustrations on you. sorry.. |

im back!
more complaints!! hahaha... lets see.. yesterday after work, lynn me n her took the same internal shuttle bus to central library so that we can change to SBS buses.. then on the bus, i was sitting with lynn while she sits alone at the other side of the bus.. hmm.. dunno at which point.. i was asking lynn a qns, and instead of lynn giving me the ans, SHE answered me. ok.. thanx for the ans, but my point is.. hello! we are having a conversation of our own, its RUDE to eavesdrop!! cant stand her. normal ppl, if u eavesdrop, you happily listen ONLY. do you ans someone who's qns wasnt targetted at you? anyway this isnt the first time this happened. back in the lab, she's always like that. to me that's still okay, coz the qns wasnt targeted at me though the one who asked a qns LOOKED at me n ask. nvm about that.. just a little overwhelm such person exist in this world. think i am getting more n more irritated by her actions each day... |

i am boiling! you are ruining the experiments!
what's the point of me doing all the steps carefully to obtain good genomic dna when right at the beginning, the samples are not grinded fine enough to be in powder form? (you are WEAK) you definitely cannot be trusted everything that goes thru your hands are bound to be ruined. now, i dont wanna repeat the whole process. hopefully our mentor has ways to help obtain better concentrations of DNA. if not, im really gonna KILL you. _____________________________________________________________ i was pissed yesterday too.. haha.. 'WE' isolated the previous batch of gDNA with lotsa DNA hooked out and kept in TE buffer solution. i was a happy girl of course. coz i did the grinding together with her and given her speed of doing stuffs, she only managed to grind like 7 or 8 of the twenty samples we had. then i DID the whole process of gDNA purification. btw, it took me 2 days to get the results. that's was why i was elated with the results when i hooked out the DNAs yesterdat. but the funny thing was.. how come the OD reading sux? you guessed it? she measured the OD readings while i was preparing another batch of DNA isolation. (get the hint?) i asked her if she mixed the samples before taking out 5ul to dilute. she hesistated before saying, "tab tab twice" common la.. who will believe you. (-_-") at least i dont. i saw you did the dilution once, you never bother to even shake it, will you tab it? anyway im coming early tomorrow morning to check out the readings myself. its best to do everything myself then to put the trust on someone who's practical skills are bad and the interest is not there. |
